OK this pc is small and flat and is packed tighter then sardines....but the weird thing is its reverse from normal ps's..When comparing this mobo to a normal case if you can picture it in the case then the onboard would be on the bottom and the cards on top....I'm told that dells are reverse from normal. Should I look for a Dell case?

The whole point is to be able to add regular cards and fans. Its my sons pc for gaming.

Wrong info guys its a compaq dc 7100 SFF

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this sounds like BTX vs. ATX. If this is true, then focus your search on BTX cases.

It's not a problem. It's what they call a "form factor". It's basically how everything fits together. For a lame example, a floppy drive has a form factor of 3.5", while a DVD/CD drive has a form factor of 5.25".

But with BTX, it's more or less an up-side down ATX. So, I believe that its up-side down like that because it may be a BTX form factor.

But again, I hope to be corrected if I'm wrong since the Terms of Service / Forum Rules state that I'm supposed to post factual information.

You're welcome. I just hope somebody else replies. But there should be a few replies within 24 hours by a couple of other people who know the definite answer. I mean, I'm taking my best guess.

In addition to being inverted, BTX mobos have a different layout. The CPU is in front, chipset near the middle, RAM up top, and expansion slots on the bottom. Expansion cards face upward and double slot video cards may interfere with the chipset heatsink.

There are only a few BTX cases.... Thermaltake has a few that comes to mind.

Well... not really. See you were talking about inverted ATX, which is something different. BTX was designed so that all the components are streamlined for optimum cooling performance. Instead of the ram going vertical, they go horizontal so that the air comming in the case can run through them, not against. Normally in OEM computers, BTX have one big heatsink for the CPU and everything is cooled via a single case fan. The north and southbridge lie just beyond the CPU so that the air from the fan can pass through them as well towards the back. Unfortunately, it never really caught on. But if you need to identify it in a pinch, a graphics card would be sticker side up on the PCI-Ex slot.
