I installed W7 64 Pro last night on friends box. Has an old but still works great 720C HP printer. Prior to install i checked compatibility and the info i found on HP site said W7 has the drivers for it. After install tho' unable to print to the 720c since W7 says it does not have the drivers. Followed the the info in this link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...&product=58707 with no success.

And per http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...720c&os=32-bit it says that this is compatible with both 32 abd 64 bit.

So if anyone has the 720c have you been able to get it to work with W7 64.

Is this showing up in device manager? Should show up as unknown device or even HP 720C with a red x by it or a yellow warning sign.
What i see in Devices and Printers is the image of a printer with an exclamation mark and it says IEE1284 Controller under it. Under device manager it appears under Other Devices as HP 720C with a question mark blue next to it. When i go into its prioperties it says working properly. However i cannot add it as a printer. When i go to troubleshoot the 1284 device it says Driver for 720C not installed. Install the lastest driver. I click Apply this fix and its ends not fixing anything. Despite the info i obtained frm ms and hp sites i dont think w7 64 has the drivers.
Got it working. Went back thru Add printer and it installed the drivers, recommended making it the default printer and hsaring it on the network and it worked - it aded the printer and it has a green check mark. Weird....

Well i tried to print but i get the message Windows cannot connect to the printer. The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler of the machine.
