so i finally recieved all my parts (minus the cpu, becuase i ordered from monarch and they're being quite ******ed about it)<br><br>
anyways, i bought the opteron 165 OEM, so i had to purchase a HSF seperate<br><br>
I snagged the arctic cooler freezer 64 pro to match the opty 165 and dfi lanparty nf4-d<br><br>
anyways, i have just noticed while assembling the comp that the retention module on the lanparty is side to side rather than top to bottom, making it so that i can't posistion the HSF to blow the air towards the back exhaust as its designed to do <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/doh.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Doh"> ...<br><br>
should i then position the fan so that its blowing the air upwards or downwards?<br>
I'm thinking upwards so that the hot air blows towards the psu fan... thoughts?

Upwards....and perhaps a case mod to add a blowhole.<br><br>
Is there a "S" clip for the Freezer 64 Pro so that you could fhange the orientation?

fraid there's no "S" clip... the case i purchased is the aspire x-cruiser and comes with a 80mm blowhole... and the psu is the sunbeam nuuo (which has a 120mm)... those two should take care of the heat blowing upwards right?<br><br>
I was also thinking that since the 120mm on the back wouldn't be required to pull the hot air out, It would be more beneficial as an intake...thoughts on that one?

It is considered conventional wisdom to have airflow moving in a single direction through the case:<br />

Disregard the HSF orientation. This is an old pic, but it give a visual of airflow that is optimal. Having 2 airfronts that meet in an enclosed area will cause convenction, no wanty that.

The clip can be rotated to orient the HSF the right way for you, check Step 4:<br />
