I just tried boxee, it seemed to work very well but isn't that pretty. The brown and green is not my cup of tea. Seemed like the interface is in 720 or something even though i most def set it to 1080

What do you guys use?

Boxee is based on XBMC code and is pretty good for the most part. Just more DIY and such.

MythTV is based on Debian Linux and is an entire OS for HTPC's.

Also, if you're running a version of Windows, which version?

I just use WMC with heaps of assorted plugins, works like a charm.

i have xp on it just so there is low resource use

it is a core 2 e4500 box with intel integrated :-/

messing with XBMC right now while ember cleans up my movies.

I just got a new tv and i dont have an extra cable box so i am using an old pc to stream movies/tv

I wanted to get an apple tv but i realized that it doesn't play anything but quicktime videos- so gay

i like the idea of using linux but i am not familiar with it except for some beginner classes. would i be able to set it up??? would it be able to access my windows shares?

I believe you can get apple tv and put xmbc on it.
