I am getting some new fans for my case

Here is what I am getting:

Ultra Kaze (for CPU or maybe exhaust, not sure yet)

Slipstream 110CFM fan (I am thinking of using this as my cpu fan most likely). I might get 2 of these and skip the KAZE all together.

What do you think?

Even though I don't use those fans personally, I've heard man good things about them..... So your good to go

Slipstreams are great, except for their relability. They don't last very long, especially if they are run so the shaft is vertical.

Cheap sleeve bearing + high wattage in a small humb = hot and short life compared to many fans. That said, if you run them so the shaft is horizontal they should last long enough to be worthwhile.
thats what I was thinking. I decided to go with 3 slipstream fans (1 for exhause and 2 on my heat sink in a push-pull configuration. The top 140mm fan in my case I will remove (and just let the the fans blow out the top).

What do you think?

Edit: also, if you oil the slipstream fans with some 3-in-one old (and maybe remove a small piece on the back) they work longer.
Look it all comes down to the horse blanket......What really works is all that matters....This cooler is cheap and it does a great job on my 9850 quad http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185125
Its cheap but it works great.

Eh hes referring to case fans not cpu coolers.

Anyway I was looking at the ultra kaze and slipstream myself for my liquid cooling rig but I was talked out of it by a LOT of very knowledgeable people. Theres a reason those things look too good to be true

They do not move the amount of air I want...
AFAIK slipstreams have very low static pressure and are terrible as rad/heatsink fans, they just choke trying to push air through the restriction. You would be much better off putting the Ultra Kaze on the CPU cooler, though I would recommend a higher-quality 38mm thick fan, such as a Panaflo or Delta that has whatever CFM you are looking for.
Slipstream is the best for case fans. For heatsinks/rads it depends. It has to do with which sounds annoy, you, which sound level you can tolerate, etc. Generally, 38mm-thick fans are the best for those because of the good static pressure that makes up for the lack of cfm and slightly high dba. Lately though, I've tried a shrouded 110cfm Slipstream on my TRUE and prefer it to the shrouded Ultra Kaze I had before. If you're in doubt though, just get a 38mm-thick fan for the heatsink. A shroud will help lower the noise.
