Well, ive been having this new 165 on my new lan party for about 3 weeks now with a 1GHz overclock (prime stable). i just could not get it to 3GHz.

But i just realized i was on stock Vcore voltages, so i had a prime stable 1GHz overclock on stock vcore volts and stock air. I pushed them up a tad and am sitting at 3GHz right now, and i am upping it even more!!!!

ill post my final results soon

haha wow... I don't even know what to say to that. Wanna trade your 165 for my 4400+? I even pay shipping
. But yeah thats a very nice overclock you achieved on stock voltage... You sure that you were on stock voltage lol... I am jealous... I deff. want to see some results and your final overclock

Lucky.

What memory timings are you using now? Also, what voltage are you using now?

i am using 3-3-3-8 for mem times

1.456 on Vcore
1.30 on LTD
1.60 on Chipset
2.8 on ram

i dono if this is a problem but when i goto tweak my OC in Clockgen and i put it PAST 345 FSB and press apply it wll go back to 345 as if my motherboard or processor refused to go any faster???

***?
try 3-4-4-8 timings on your ram, and wat mhz is ur ram at right now, u could try a more aggressive divider, and there is a way you can check your mobo's highest fsb allowed

Why are you using clockgen? OC it from the BIOS.

Remember people use their Bios in college
Sweet. Glad you got there. Also as said Overclocking In windows With clockgen isnt the best Idea. I would use the BIOS as you will get more stable results that way.
i am using Bios to overclock, im just using clock gen to tweak my overclock, and once windows crashes ill bring it a little higher in bios and repeat the process, also doing a 32M in super pi

I AM USING BIOS -_-

so how do i find the max FSB my board will allow

this is a DFI lanparty UT ultra-D

Guides are your friends
.
On an Ultra-D I would say 310MHz would be a safe maximum. Mine is at 335MHz at the moment with 1.6V on the chip (it does 325MHz with stock volts). Even if it's the same brand, each individual board is different, so you still have to find your own maximums.

i thought that lanparties could go up to 550Mhz? or am i just a noob?
its letting me go past now.... so i dono, i need to get some new cooling before i can hit anything really above 3GHz and be stable
everything on my computer starts crapping out a little after 300FSB.

@ Jemery, awww that sucks

you have just about the same setup as me

CPU
AMD Opteron 165 CCBBE0616 Motherboard
Lanparty Ultra-D Graphics Card
XFX 7800GT Memory
1GB Kingston PC3200

Did you put on a big divider for your ram?

I am going to do some stability tests tonight for my Final OC with stock cooling

That same chip is sitting under my tree dude!! (CCBBE 0616) I can not WAIT for xmas, oh man you are hyping me up.

Congrats muchly on the great overclock, you should go for water and try to get it up to 3.2-3.3gHz and beyond ^.^
My lanparty gets up to around 345 or 350....so you should be fine that way. Kepe tweakinb in the BIOS. forget windows OCing....it just causes issues.
