I don't think they ever made a 165 that couldnt hit 2.5 or more and lately many do 2.6-3.0 so best of luck, hope you get a good one <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile">

Cheers mate. Yeah i hope i get a good one. Im lucky to get one as there not all that wide spread as they use to be thanks to AMD limiting them..Probably because of there potential for such a cheap CPU..These days anyway.

The board you just ordered is awesome, but, with any great things, there are some issues with it...<br><br>
I have not had many issues with my board, but some people have :<br><br><a href="http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=30" target="_blank">http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=30</a><br><br>
Check over here if you'd like to see the averages of the majority of steppings of Opterons :<br><a href="http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=96900" target="_blank">http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=96900</a>

Good luck Enterprise I too just put an opty 165 together and got to close to 2.6 first day with very little effort and using one stick of 512 mushkin enhanced memory. So when I switch my memory from my other rig to this one then prolly work it higher. I'm gonna drop the corsair mem I got from (flaking)<<thanks, in it.

Why would you get an AMD rather than an intel conroe?<br><br>
Just to test it out?

I didn't understand half of that, but I'm guessing you're saying that he did it just becuase he could and you want me to change intel overclocker on my profile to amd overclocker?

</div>Conroe doesnt fit my needs and works out to be more expensive. My needs are simple...Dual core for multitasking and some gaming...I dont need to fork out the expense for a Conroe.

To go Conroe, he would need a new CPU, motherboard, and RAM. Good conroe boards are expensive, and DDR2 sure ain't cheap. This way, he gets a fairly major performance boost at a relatively low cost. Just because it's the fastest doesn't mean it's the best choice.

Intel's the dark side! AMD's the good side! <br />

</div>well put, some people dont want to spend the money for conroe, and even if it is only $150 more or whatever maybe they dont want to spend that.
