OK I have an abit ax78 mobo with an amd athlon 64 x2 6000+ 3.0ghz.
I want to overclock it and I have searched and searched but I just can't find anywhere that gives me all the info that I need. How do I overclock this sucker? I want to squeeze as much out of it as possible. I don't know what the North Bridge voltage or south bridge voltages do or what they should be at or what.....basically I'm completely lost. I am a proud computer geek however so I can learn quickly. This is one of the few areas that I am lost in as far as computers go. HELP!
Basically, turn your clock frequency up, stress test, monitor temps, if crashes, raise voltage by a bit, repeat. Also if underclock your RAM if you have to.
ok i am able to turn my clock frequency up ALL the way with the multiplier on highest and it still boots up and is stable. But I run CPUspeed and it still gives me 3.0 ghz.

And read... A LOT... Search this entire website for a few weeks. That's how I entered the realm of overclocking. Reading while at work. Now I feel I'm an expert (at overclocking MY chip/mobo/gpu).

OK well I know how to change the external clock frequency and the mutliplier. I can set those up ALL the way and it's stable but there is no performance increase or even statistical increase according to my "true cpu speed" test programs. What other things do I need to tweak to get more speed? NB frequency or multiplier? there are a bunch of things in there that I have no Idea what to do with

I don't think you can change the multiplier on that mobo/cpu. Are you sure your saving the settings? As for now worry about clock frequency, voltage, temps, and memory. That's it.

ok as far as worrying about voltage and memory and temps etc. What do you mean? and yes you can change the CPU's mutliplier if that's what you are saying I'm positive of that. I don't know what voltages to set and what is too much for what speed etc.
