Bay Area is by far the worst, expecially SF, mabye the LA area has cought up, but yea. Basically my house was just over 300k when we bought it 11 years ago, now its 1.5mil (4 bed, 3 bath). Probably did 85% of that price gaining in the past 4-5 years. We did a few upgrades, but nothing substantial to make a big difference (ie, add a bedroom ect.)

My parent's bought their house for 75,000 in 1987 and now it's worth like 175,000. Not as good as CA's up-hike, but I like my house. No hardwood floors, no stainless steel aplliances, no expansive bedrooms. But it's home, and it has nice stuff in it.

Cheap house FTW!! lol

My mom just took me to go see a house we may buy (not sure because it costs over $3 million and that is a bit much for us) but if we do move that means we get to ditch our current home theater stuff and get all new stuff that means I get to choose 3 LCD tvs for the 2 theaters and the family room as well as 3 home theater speaker systems for them and also buy 3 new computers for my mom and dad's offices and a new laptop. As of right now my and my brothers' gaming rigs will stay the same since they are more than enough for anything we use them for but upgrades will come when the time is right.

rofl and I though vancouver was bad. Homes that were around 450-ish 6-7 years ago are now nearly a million. The most cramped ass houses are around 700-900 K. I live in a cramped ass house that cost us around ~550 to build and now it's worth ~950K. 3600 square feet only, 3 story.

Ha, I was with my mom since I'm only 16, obviously Im not buying a house yet. Anyways as someone said housing in California is REALLY expensive, most of the cost of the house is just the land (like 1.5 million + is just for the <1/2 or even <1/3 acre it sits on lol) so you get like no back yard here in Cali, which is no biggie because I have never been in my backyard except for when I help out with the yardwork (not too often, Im really lazy around the house) I don't know how big the house itself is but its smaller than my current house (which is exactly 5,000 square feet) and is a one story which is cool.

I think things are looking up as far as me moving there because when we went there again they offered us a 5.25% something or other rather than 7% (I have no idea what the difference is between the different percentages, its something having to do with financing.....) so we end up saving a lot of money comparatively, I really hope my parents go for it.

I just checked the papers they gave us for the house and apparently that house is also about 5,000 square feet, it felt so much smaller though. Anyways my mom just told me we might also move to another house nearby that is 1.3 million lol, I think that's a better choice because then my parents could buy it without any loan and pay off all our cars and that way they'd be more willing to buy upgrades for computers....DX10 and Vista are right around the corner ya know

May I ask what your parents do for a living? Both of my parents are physicians, and they can barley manage a 350k house in central California.
No, both of my parents are engineers (mom works for the City of San Diego and my dad has his own Title 24 company and works with HVAC and stuff) most of their money comes from buying and selling real estate though, when I was born we lived in a condo and every 2 years they sell their house and move up to a bigger better one and after 16 years and 8 times moving in my lifetime this is where they ended up, look at the first post, I added a link I found for a house on my street. As you can see, it's hardly worth $3million but that's how screwed up San Diego's housing prices are I guess.

EDIT: Lol @ making fun of me on vent, whatever floats your boat I guess.
