Hi there everyone, i done a simple calculation using the wattage calculator provided @Asus website .... and found that i need a minimum of 1200w to power my rig if i go on gtx 295 quad sli one day when price drop.

No, maybe 900, but not 1200.
A quality 800w should be fine.
For that setup I'd get the HX1000W. This thingy will be plenty

GXT295 is a 289w GPU. With SLI scale and quad at 3.4, you need a soild 850w such as Corsair 850tx.
I just ran your specs on the ThermalTake PSU calculator, and it came back with 656W. According to HardOCP, GTX295 Quad SLI consumes 290W total system draw. Quad CrossFireX consumes 353W. Reference: http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?...VudGh1c2lhc3Q=

A different article puts a GTX285 at 372W under full load, with a single HD4870x2 pulling 459W. Reference: http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?...50aHVzaWFzdA==

Going by the above information, I'd say a solid 750W, 800W or 850W PSU would be the option, but watch out for how much current can be delivered on the 12V rail(s). Corsair and Thermaltake are the first to spring to mind, but Antec, Enermax, Xclio, Seasonic, SilverStone and PP&C are more than worthy.
to be safe, stick with the 1200w calculation. there are plenty of 1200-1500w psu's available.
1200W would be fine especially if considering future proofing (as far as possible anyway.) but I don't think it would be necessary really. With PSU Calculator lite the PSU recomedation for my sig rig is 590W and for quad Sli it would be 764W. I'm sure before buying the TX750 I read few reviews that tested the it over prelonged periods @ 900W loads which it handled fine but I'm not sure I'd want it sitting with a 900W load 24/7. I actually considered a while ago that my TX750 was under quite a load even though specs stated otherwise as I'd hear the Corsairs fan spin up for about 30 secs after a few hours gaming with a GTX 295 and all the other stuff in my rig. It turned out though it was just getting a little warm as it was initially fittted upside down in the case sucking in the systems warm air which obviously wasn't helping. After a little modding...drilling a load of 1/2 inch holes in the base of the Antec directly under the PSU, I haven't heard the fan spool up ever since
The TX series really are tough little fellas and worth every penny.

yeah i agree, the pc will be a little future proof and support the rig without being close to the edge of needing power.

My thoughts exactly

I say a really solid 800w would be plenty, and if you want more headroom then 1000w will be plenty.
I would go at least 850 not 800 since you will really be cutting it close if you have a lot of hd's and hard drives.

I have enough capacitors in my house to make a rail gun. A 1200W PSU would be plenty to charge them in a few SECONDS.

On topic: A 850W Quality PSU would be fine. Check the F/S thread as there are plenty there.

I don't think you would need 1200W, maybe with 1000W will be enough

but in case that you want to upgrade in the future (tri SLI or quad CF setups), or to make insane overclocking, then go for a 1200W PSU
what a joke. an hx1000 should be able to keep quad sli on 295's fed.
