I am undecided at this time as i wanna upgrade my gpu and need sum input from you guys as to which of these two cards to get as i wanna start doing sum gamming. In my sig rig is the card i'm using now but don't know which one will give me the best preformance and power.
The first card is the 8800gtx 768mb 600 core, i don't have a link for that but i can pick it up for 185.00 shipped and it's retail box with 1 life warranty and 4 months old. The other card is a xfx 9800gtx+ and here is the link:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150325
O BTW this card will be used in my sig!

save your money up a little longer. Your not going to see a huge jump moving to either card. Save up and get a GTX 260. The core 216 is around 300 now i know thats higher than your cards but you will notice a difference. This is the one i'm getting

Its not too much more than the standard 192 either.
If you need a new card, but aren't looking for too much of an increase then get the 9800 GTX+. Just not the XFX one, get the eVGA one, it's $164 AR as opposed to $179 AR. If I was you though, I'd wait until Q1 of 2009.
Hiya,

I would go with the suggestion for an Evga 98gtx. Here is a link to newegg that has two choices, on being recertified. I got my card cause of the TradeUp program Evga has plus it was a good price. With the TradeUp you could always get a better card for minus what you paid for any evga card you might buy now. I don't think you can go wrong with it. Or, like it was suggested, wait for one of the 200 series to go down in price.

I did eyeball the gtx 260 and said i don't know! I thought i would get a decent preformance jump with either of the cards stated. What is comming Q1????
What is the trade up plan on EVGA thing? I always thought xfx was good as it has a 2x life warranty which is great as when it was time to upgrade again i could sell the card on ebay and still offer the one life warranty?

I would not recommend getting a GX2.

Coming from a G80 myself you will notice a significant increase with the 9800gtx+. If you do decide to get the 9800gtx+ get an EVGA for the step-up.

If you register your card within 30 days of purchase then you get 90 days for the TradeUp program; check it out here EVGA StepUp Anytime in the 90 days you can do this. I checked it out with my 9600gt and I would only have to pay $83 for a 98gtx because the value of my card at the time of purchase was $131.

It's not a matter of who's better, because I know lately ATI has been doing alot better.

But I myself am a fanboy and will never buy ATI or accept that they "pwn nVidia"

So sorry ;D

Just to let you know.... Marin is not a fanboy. There is a reason that he doesn't recommend the GX2 and thats because it has some shotty performance. Its known to have stutter issues and doesnt cool very well at all. Plus your way better off with a single card solution if you want to avoid headaches. Marin happens to be quite fair and offer opinions on both sides of the GPU debate on which is better. You ask a question and he usually will give you facts of the best performing card for you. Just because you own an ATI card and are happy with it doesnt mean that you are a fanboy.

Ah...but it takes 3 nVidia cards to beat 2 ATI cards.

This is the dumbest argument ever. On both sides.

The number of GPUs argument is ridiculous, as is the whole debate.

Facts are facts and the 4870 X2 GRAPHICS CARD beats the GTX 280 GRAPHICS CARD right now.

Nonetheless, you can't go wrong with either company, as both produce great cards.

Also, it doesn't matter which you own, your penis will always be the same size.
