I Need New Earphones

I just got myself a new pair of TripleFi 10's, and DAMN. I never thought that tiny earphones could be this good.

Anyway, I gave my old pair to my girlfriend, and what I need now is a cheap pair of IEMs for when I don't want to put the TripleFi's at risk, like at the gym. So it's gotta be cheap enough that if it breaks I can just pick up another pair without thinking twice about it, and it's gotta have good bass and at least acceptable sound quality. As in, it's gotta at least be better than the crap that MP3 players come with.

+rep for good suggestions

I am not sure your budget, but these seem to be good, I know Denon makes good receivers, but I am not entirely sure about their in ear phones:

Seems by most of the reviews, it is well liked, but in reality it depends on what you like and what sounds best to your ears.

Denon is good all around, I would buy those if $30 is appealing to you Manyak.

Good bass meaning a good quantity or do you want quality as well?

I'll throw in a blind JVC HA-FX66 recommendation for now because that mess has extremely heavy bass if you use Comply foam tips but on the other hand it also handles mids and highs decently well for something so cheap.

On the other hand for quality bass and a decently large soundstage, the SoundMagic PL-30 is quite nice for being a $24 earphone except it takes a long time to ship from Hong Kong retailers.

The above recommendations for Denon are also very much valid.

I just ordered some Sennhieser CX300-II's off ebay, shipped to Canada for 32$ CAD. Haven't arrived yet but I have heard they are great headphones.
I had the exact same dilemna:
There's a thin line between cheap and easily replaceable ($$wize) and the units being sooo cheap that the SQ absolutely makes me grind my teeth.

For my "reserve use" I have a pair of Shure SE210's If that gives you a bassline (pun)

However, for the gym/beach/yardwork etc. I'm pretty rough on my buds/IEMs & I figured out that I break the $150 sets just as quickly as the $10 ones :swearing:
So I decided to go cheeeeep for my "daily drivers"... Sorry about another Headphone "driver" pun... had to.

I started out trying $6 Sony earbuds- "No Sir- I don't like it"
then the Phillips ~$10 -they have a really unique earpiece-- not quite an earbud, not quite an IEM, and the tips fall off easily!

Then I tried the JVC Gumy earbuds
but just couldn't hack the SQ.

I've settled on their next tier up
The JVC Marshmallows Only $16.99 at the Egg

The sound quality is actually very reasonable (exceptionaly good for the price)
Even better, you can pick them up at your local friendly Wally world (~$19)
whenever you need a pair in an emergency.
Cheers Manyak

I want in ear, not earbuds

I can't stand earbuds for longer than 10mins.

Well you and a few others say it's pretty good, so I guess I'll take your word for it

Around $20-$30 tops. Any more than that and I'd become scared to break them.

To be more specific with the bass... I want bass quantity, but mid/high quality. So I guess those JVCs are an option

I had those once (but I think it was just the regular CX300) and the treble was absolutely ear-piercing. For the first time in my life I actually turned the highs down on the EQ instead of up. But thanks anyway.
