You should be able to enable the 4th core on that processor and there is good overclocking potential there

Otherwise get the PHII 940 I'm pretty sure you can put an AM2+ processor in an AM3 board but don't quote me on that.

It is when they have NOT released a PHII 940 for AM3 boards yet and you want cutting edge so if you want to use DDR3 you will need to get the 720 or wait until a 940 for AM3 is released.
