or did something to it and now its not working!

i was running a single 8800 gtx for a couple of months and was nice and i thought i had money so ill get another one. so until yesterday i was running 2 8800gtx in sli. one day before, i turned on my pc, and played crysis and basically when i get to the game menu, my computer screen just went all fuzzy blurred and froze. i didnt get BSOD.

i noticed after i reboot, my monitor goes off for 2 seconds every 15 - 30 seconds. i try running any thing other than internet and the computer just freezes up. i took out one gtx card and just run single. work fine, could play crysis, run 3dmark06 anything really. i took it out, and put the 2nd gtx in. and damn, windows laods up in 4bit colour with the lowest possible resolution. i tried delting all drivers reinstalling them using drivercleaner too and nothing.

anyone had a problem like this ? and know if there could be damage to my gtx.

i overclocked my first gtx, never had problems. when in sli i didnt overclock.

Sounds like the 2nd one is having some serious issues. What kind of warranty is the card? What brand? Should be able to get it replaced.

so you have enabled Sli and you have updated drivers for the second cards sake?

He did if I read that right.

It definately sounds like that card needs to be replaced. Is it under warranty?

Does sound like the 2nd one is broke. Can you take it back? Looks like that is your only option

i bought the card bradnnew, it is of xfx brand. i have since been on their website and also let them know of this and registered my card.

yes i tried running the faulty card by itsself thats how i know something def isnt right (only 4 bit colours and pc crashing)

right now im waiting for a responce from xfx. ive never been in this situation before. so i dunno what happens next. will they try to fix it? or replace it? i was thinking of getting rid of both my 8800 gtx's and getting a single 9800 gtx since i play at low resolution and only flight simulator now.
I had the same thing happen to my evga 8800 gts a few months ago, it only lasted a little over a year. Luckily it has a lifetime warranty, so i rma the card and got a new one in about 2 weeks. The funny thing i really could not wait and got a visiontec 4870 when it first came out. So the 8800 is still in its package box...lol

Well no worries sir! I will let you know that XFX is awsome when it comes to RMA, and warranty, double lifetime FTW! Just make sure you let them know that you run 2 identical cards in SLI, because they may just send you a 9800 in its place (newer release). So be certain that you let them know this when starting your RMA. Other than that, im sorry to hear of your loss. My old Ti4200 lust died about 3 weeks ago. However on a good note, I have had my XFX 8800gt's running flawlessly for about a year. After your RMA, all should be good! Good Luck!
yes i told them i run 2 8800 gtx in sli. but also, like i said, im planning on just switching to one GPu, maybe a 9800 gtx, or hell just one 8800 gtx is good enough tbh.
has any one looked at his power supply.

What brand of power supply is it and how many amps does it put through the 12 volt rail?
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135197 this is my powersupply. im sorry i do not know much about maps volt rails etc. not sure what it all means :s

but, i had no problems for like 3 weeks. all of a sudden....it stop working
Don't know about Hi-Power but specs look sufficient.
i don't think it is sufficient really. I thought a 8800GTX needed 30 Amps on each rail, this has 20 and its not a brand name so they could be cheating

just so you know raikky a rail is each one of the 12V1, 12V2 ect. also 64 amps with only one rail is better that 80amps distributed through 4 rails.

right thanks! thats some great information. so maybe its a good idea to possibly upgrade my PSU. i tried looking for power requirements per rail couldnt find anything, ill keep looking though. but, i ran 1 gtx with this PSU since end of 2008 and had no problems so far!

also, XFX got back to me today, they told me the card sounds faulty and asked me to fill in all my information and address in my account page.
