I accidentally knocked off one of the capacitors (near the bottom right of the card) and now it shows 3 red LEDs. I think it's dead since the pins of the capacitor also broke off and it's going to be really hard to solder. I guess I'll report back tomorrow, but this sucks

RMA's probably do not cover physical damage to the card. Sorry Bro.

I guess this is his last option if he can't RMA it. It'll probably will work too.

If you give up on it, I can try to "fix" it and keep it too. Maby this is a sign.

I say solder it back on even if it doesn't fix it. Make it look the way it did when you got it, as if there was no physical damage at all. Then RMA it saying it won't work, and I'm sure they'll send you a replacement.

Maybe they won't have any 4870x2's anymore and they will send you a 5870

come on its a cap. Go to radio shack and get them to tell you the Mico Farad of it and then get a replacement and then solder it back on and quit worrying. I bought a 9600 the other day from the thrift store for a dollar and a half because of the same problem. I used a dremmel and a really small drill bit and drilled the solder points and then inserted a new Cap and soldered it from the bottom. It works great.

What kind of thrift store do you go to?

This may not always be the case if he ripped the tracking (soldering points) then soldering won't help. Try to get capacitor back on then RMA it if you will send it apart then they won't take it as it is your fault and they will not accept it unless you have it insured which I doubt. I hope you will get it sorted/fixed because it is an amazing graphics card. I had two of them and sold them for £150 a piece and got 5970. GOOD LUCK!
