Ok, since I have barely any time with football to figure out which quads are compatible with my mobo, I decided to ask the pros

I want in! I want a quad, even though my 5000 is just fine oced at 3.0GHz, which would be the cheapest most efficient phenom that I can get for my Tforce 720 A2+?

Thank you in advance!

god bless the Q6600 but yeah get the cheapest quad Phenom and OC it to 2.8 and that should work perfect.

Lol what he posted WOULD rival the Q6600, which I would say could only be a 9850BE or 9950BE, which will cost you $170 at minimum, the same price as the Q6600. Don't expect to get the same performance as a Q6600 for $100, dude.

don't expect the cheaper quads to overclock far. If any to be honest.

If you can't get the BE wait until you can.

QFT

if you could, why would people buy q6600s?
the BE 9850 is a great chip, it OCs relatively well
it also runs relatively cool compared to a q6600

this is a great chip- you wont be disappointed.

nothing! AMD has nothing thats as good as the Q6600! The 9950 BE is about as fast with both at stock but the Q6600 will clock to 3.6Ghz easy and the 9950 BE will be a bear to even get 3Ghz stable!

Also, so yeah, maybe you'll score a slightly higher framerate at the same speeds with an Intel... who gives a flying fk? I just came off an E8400 @ 4.8GHz, and I know people w/ Q6600's @ 5GHz, and I don't regret going Phenom one bit. The gameplay just seems smoother... I think these processors are highly underrated based on people's understanding of all the benchmarks... And Phenoms' memory controllers>the QX9770
. And I got my 9850 for $120. Beat that
.
