OK, so I want to use voice chat and record my voice for making youtube videos. What all will I need? I know I'll need a mic, but is there anything else?

Also, can anyone recommend a good mic?

By voice chat do you mean talk to others like using mumble/vent/Ts3/skype? (mumble and I think ts3 has a recording function I believe)

For just recording your own voice Audacity is pretty damn good http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Well a cheap decent mic you could get is a zalaman clip on mic

Do you mean like commentary? What I recommend is you record gameplay with Fraps or something, and then use a program like Audacity to record your voice which you can then add onto the video with an editing program.
