Need help guidance in choosing between i5-3570K or i7-3770K.

This is what i have so far

Z77X-UD5H
PSU-V850
EVO212
8gb ddr3

I'm buying the cpu first then gpu.

I want to use the rig mainly for casual gaming indie games game emulators but also games like BF3 crysis 3 should i just buy i7-3770K to future proof for next gen or will i5-3570K also get the job done.

Thanks guys:)

Just go with the 3570K and put the savings into a different component (GPU probably). From a gaming perspective, you gain very little with the 3770K. Hyperthreading has no benefit for the majority of games, and the 3570K matches or is close to matching the 3770K in most other realms. This is especially true if you're mostly into indie games.
depends on multiple things, such as your budget, what you are going to use it for and weither or not you are going to be doing stuff like video rendering etc.
I went from a 3570k to a 3770k because i was into recording footage of gameplay and rendering etc and the i7 helped out a bunch. how ever i did not notice difference if at all in games like BF3 etc. if you think you are able to get the 3570k and grab a better GPU go with that choice, but if you are getting the same GPU either or not you get the 3570k or the 3770k i'd just go with the 3770k

please let us know what GPU you are willing to get.

another example :
1) 3570k + GTX 770
2) 3770k + GTX 760

again, it all depends on what you are going to be doing really.
pure gaming option 1.
rendering, and CPU intensive stuff i'd go with option 2.
I hope that gives you an idea. good luck with your purchase.

Thanks guys!

No CPU intensive stuff just gaming.

Yes i was thinking of gtx 770 but that won't be for a whlie i guess my next question would be if i buy the 3570k just to get my rig up and running would i still be able to run some 3d games with just the motherboard and cpu.

Thanks again!

The 3570k does have Intel HD 4000 built in so yes, you can play a lot of older games on mid-high and newer ones on low at a lower res. Just note that my friend said it is not very Minecraft friendly. Should run TF2 okay, I never tried it because I got all of my components at once
Thanks guys.

Decided on the i5-3570K came to conclusion it's within my budget and needs thanks again everyone your help was appreciated

You can buy 2 7950s instead 1 770gtx and you would have gtx titan performance
I'd just go with a 3570k then delid it. You can over clock it if you need more performance. Personally I love the i5's I feel as if its the best of both worlds without breaking your bank
