56x multi is nice, but in your screenie core #2 has failed in the stability test, needs an adjustment in memory or a vcore bump....

Anybody know if the Made in Costa Rica i7's all have there own batch number as
most 2000 series i7's have a L0xx (Made in Malaysia) but this batch is 310A112. Wonder if this is were the golden one's are..

56x is way too hot anyway for HT and 4 cores with air.

Gonna reset my cooler to make sure it is not the reason for the heat at lower vcore.

This was a test I very carefully did at 56x.... knowing that if this OC failed my bios would reset with HT On and enable the other cores but keep the multi and voltage which would be blazing hot..... so I do not recommend trying this... not sure if water could even keep it within safe temps limits for stress testing... but I am gonna reseat my cooler to make sure it is a characteristic of this cpu....

Jason,
Your findings are about the same as mine although my CPU runs a bit hotter than yours.

About 5C hotter with 0.01v more vcore.
I have a Costa rica chip too and it seems fine at 1.416v-1.428v load and 5 ghz, at least in prime. And runs like 10C hotter than my first 2600k which was L045A998 malay. That chip ran cool but needed 1.5v+ for 5 ghz...

And it's probably NOT your cooler.
Many low VID chips run hotter because they are more leaky.

Jason go into your BIOS and set it to x34 and find out the default VID for x34 (this is the voltage that "Auto" would set), as well as the default VID For 5 ghz. I'm curious as to what the VID is showing (should show this left of your selected voltage). Remember the VID is *NOT* The vcore shown in health monitoring.

Mine is I think 1.215v VID for 3.4 ghz and 1.3611 or 1.3711 VID for 5 ghz (one of the two).

Well... thought maybe I was on to something... but was I unaware of that.

Why is my batch numbers so different...??

I am not really sure what is considered to be "golden" with these chips.
This might have a lower vcore than my previous but it runs just as hot with 1.4vcore vs 1.5vcore. The first one had a max multi of 50x where as this one has a max of 56x but the heat is too much past 50x anyways...

Jason you didn't answer my question

You asked about the temps, I tried to help you and you just ignored my post D:

What voltage are you wanting if not the vcore... ??? I have not been using auto settings and not sure if it would compensate for 5ghz.

Alright, my auto sets 1.22v @ 3.4ghz and 1.395v @ 5ghz.

Hmmm...interesting VID range.
Your VID is just 0.005 higher than my current at 3.4 ghz and 0.025 higher at 5 ghz...(i'm 1.215v VID at 3.4 and 1.3711 VID at 5 ghz).

Pretty strange...my bad CPU which ran very cool, had a 1.390v VID at 5 ghz and a 1.235v VID at 3.4 ghz.

So definitely seems like the lower VID chips run hot.
Your CPU clocks slightly better than mine, much better multiplier range.
CPU's that are leaky like that do great on water or SS.
