Hi all, just got my hands on a used 4790k. Swapped out my nekkid 4770k @ [email protected] to this chip. I can get it to boot 1.30 and base voltages on other settings. It will not boot @ 4.9 with all the voltages turned up to "max" for water cooling based on the spreadsheet screenshot that I've found in the forums. It will run stable in Windows in Aida64 @ 1.16v. Has anyone seen a CPU that just won't go over X even with huge increases in voltage?

not really surprised. 4.9 is a very high OC for a 4770K.

every chip OCs different and they won't hit the same clocks or at the same voltages. that's why it's called a silicon lottery.

I replaced the 4770k with a 4790k. The 4790k wouldn't go @ 4.9ghz @ 1.45, and I understand each is different. Never seen one with a gap like this where .15v increase on Vcore = no change on the OC.
