Hey guys, could you build me an i7 build consisting of processor, mobo, and ram for 500 dollars or less? I really can't go over 500, I might be able to by like 10 dollars, but really try and keep it under 500$ I plan on overclocking it to 4ghz+ 24/7(hopefuly) with a xiggy s1283

i think this is currently impossible atm, unless you buy used

edit: yes impossible a board and cpu is around 450 without shipping and taxes and assuming you have access to a microcentre
If you're on a budget like that, I would suggest building a Core 2 Quad setup instead.
Well whats the cheapest barebone corei7 setup possible? Like juss cpu, mobo and RAM. I'm interested in knowing as well.
Processor: http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0300438

Motherboard: http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0304422

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148196 (Buy 2 or 3 for dual or tri channel)

This is only possible if you have a microcenter around you, since the I7 price is in store only. It should be around $500 with taxes and shipping.
~$550 shipped is about the cheapest you can do buying new from newegg.

Here you go.

Edit:
You could also go for a 3gb triple channel memory kit for a bit less.

heres a cheaper mobo $190
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130221
cheaper ram $36
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148245
with the i7 920 from microcenter its $456 total. Thats the cheapest you can do i7.

******IF YOU CANT GET TO MICROCENTER GET THIS COMBO***
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.162994
with the same ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148245
you are looking at $490. SO under $500 is POSSIBLE!
for $490 there is no reason not to get i7.

no those 939 X2s go for a good amount. u should get more than that. So itll be like a $350 upgrade for you. Worth it imho.

What if I had 540$? i also want to see if you can go for something that works, not just all the cheapest things you can find by arranging stuff on newegg by least price...

Then get this ram instead
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148246
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231247
cpu+mobo
imho its a waste though, just get the cheapest x58+i7+3gb ddr3
But if you want 6gb...
The "cheapest" stuff i listed is all good.

Well, it's not because I want 6gb, i don't, i want more like 4gb, its just that ive heard bad things of msi boards, and i had a bad experience with an msi video card, and ive never heard of crucial ram, thats why i was wondering...

WITH I7 YOU DONT WANT 4GB!!!! It uses tripple channel so either get 3gb or 6gb.
And crucial ram, well check my sig. They are some of the best. Ive been running it for over 1.5 years no problems and in my brothers rig for many years. It is good stuff.
The gigabyte board will cost you $40 more (no combo deal for it) And its not really worth it.
Honestly there is no reason to spend more money.
@zomgiwin there is tax on that order thats why it costs so much (and the msi board is cheaper than the zotac)
He is in Florida, so no tax for him.

*Points to cards in sig*

Yeah, they are a relatively up-and-coming company, they have started to make a whole rage of parts in the last year and a half or so, I havn't heard any horror stories about any of their products, if that's any indication.
