Hey people.

Okay my friend got a i7 930, Gigabyte UD3R/USB3, 6GB of RAM, GTX560 Ti and a Coolermaster V10. All of this is in a Coolermaster HAF932 powered by a Coolermaster Silent Pro 850watt.

Now we tried doing a bit of OC on his machine, but we got stuck at 3.4GHz, reason being in Prime95 the temps went up to the 80's. On idle, he sticks at around at 50-60, load going up to 80. At 3.2GHz idle went down a bit, and load maxed out at 77.

Are these temperatures normal, even with a V10?

To me this is a bit high as for my AMD 965 BE OC's to 4.0GHz and maxes out at 59 with a Coolermaster Hyper 212+.

He says he applied a good amount of TIM and he ain't noob, so I trust that he did apply it correctly.

It was somewhere around 1.4V. And I know the V10 ain't that great of a cooler, but still, I expected more...

1.4v is getting up there pretty high for a 930. I'm running 3.8 @ ~1.24v and do not have the greatest CPU. 4.0 @ 1.3v is sort of what I would consider to be the bar and most will do 4.2 @ or before 1.4v. V10's are not exactly known to be great coolers but at 1.4v you will be pushing the high end of what can be done on air with even the best of air coolers on a 930.

It's not on 'auto', is it?
