If you are on stock cooling I would say thats normal! (since you don't inform of any cooling).

If you could tell us what kind of volts you where trying out and what cooling you are using it would be a lot easier!

Idle temps are not important, the only ones to worry about are load. Keep your load temps below 75c running Prime95, some people say 80c is ok so use your own preference..

As posted above 100c is when thermal shutdown happens, thats a safety feature to keep you from killing the cpu..

But on stock cooling I have a feeling you will hit 80c+ within 10 minutes of Prime95...

yah using stock cooler.. thinking of picking up a h50.. i can get one locally for 50$.. h50 vs a good air cooler. what are my options for good air coolers? 212? iv heard good things about the noctura d14 too. but its kinda big. and do i have to change the fans on it?

:edit: to the person asking about the volts. i didnt change anything else but the bus speed. @ 166.
should i change volts??

also i guess i have the option to run the cpu at a lower multi when its idle. whats the option to turn it off called? or should i leave it on? does it make a difference?

:edit2: went back to stock setting and ran prime for 15 mins.. max temp 87c.. i feel thats pretty high.. it never hit that high when i do anything else.. max's out at high50s after a long game sesh. usually stays around high30 low40s when im do other stuff other then gaming.
