I ORDERED ALL OF THE FOLLOWING! =D 8/3/09

This computer will be used for some hardcore pv gaming and some general internet usage. Can you guys tweak this rig a little bit. Also all I looked on for parts was Newegg.com, so if you know where some parts = to or close are could you throw a link? If possible can you guys list some parts that are a little cheaper? This is right at my budget, but I want to get it as low as possible. And if I am missing something, PLEASE tell me!

do you live buy a www.microcenter.com ? they have cheap i7's. for 30$ i would go with a 4890 by XFX, they have a lifetime warranty and the 4890 KILLS or even a 4870 1GB which has better benches . also, why the v8? why not a TRUE/Noctua/xigmatek?

No, and I am stuck on Nvidia. And this was kind of thrown together this morning. I want a lot of feedback, I read somewhere to use a v8. So which exact heatsink would be good?

Also. not enough difference to care. Another thing, I would like to step down on most things not step up. What things can I cut cost on?

One more thing, is the tri sli motherboard overkill, since I will only be running 1 card until Christmas?

Nevermind sticking with Corsair.

Is it possible to download Vista off the disc I have at home? Or do I need a key or something?

Vista plus free W7 coupon?

But I don't have this kind of money, I need to cut cost about 150 if I do that. I might have to cut costs anyway.

Just remembered I get a paycheck monday. So my budget is about $1700 USD.

Also quoted off another forum.
"You can lose the vista ultimate OS and DL server 08 for free for at least *cough* like 240 days. it is the same as vista 64, btu you can customize it more and it is less of a resource hog. after the 240 days you can either purchase a copy, or re-format."

the EVGA board is a little overkill if you're just gonna be doing 2 way SLI max. i mean, the evga board is for hard core OCer's with water/LN2. you can get awesome clocks from a Foxconn bloodrage/ Asus P6T Deluxe V2. you can cut 70-120$ there pretty well.

also for your OS, see if any of your friends at Universities have MSDN's [where they get site licensed products] or student discounts. :]

also, you're missing an optical drive [cd burner] LG and samsung make the best IMO, the quietest out of all the ones ive bought. ASUS's CD burners break to easy :[

K, I am lost when it comes to any optical drives. I really just want to get the basics of the computer running first, then worry about the rest. And I can probably get dvd/cd drives at a local pc store.

A 22x DVD drive shouldn't cost you above 20$. To be realistic, your DVD/CD Drive is probabl going to be used the least. unless youre heavy on media or something. The only time I ever use mines is if i need to burn something or if i need to install an OS/game

and for your OS, generally, Vista OEM editions can only be installed on 1 PC at a time. when you install it on 2 PCs, you won't be able to get updates for the OS because its sharing the key with another hardware set. but there's a way you can get away with it; I'll see if i can find a link on the interweb for you

Alright, I am going to drop by the local pc store, see what they have there.
