I got my Icemat Siberias today from the Buy.com sale ($10 after MIR)

Initial thoughts as I opened them:
-the packaging is cheap
-the cords are stiff
-the headphone cord is SHORT! 1M long, there's an adapter, but still!

Comfort:
-not too uncomfortable... but I wouldn't call them comfy in any sense I would rate them just slightly less comfortable then my Grado SR80's with moded Senn HD414 pads.
-cable is too short
-there is some clamping

Build Quality:
-these cans just feel cheap!

Sound Quality:
- they aren't bad. they certianly aren't the worst sounding headphone I've ever heard, but they aren't great either.
-they are lacking in bass extension, and the highs are a bit shrill. the mids sound veiled. Hopefully this will get better with some burn in.
-the soundstage is just simply too small for gaming. positional audio is maybe half as good as it is with my Senn HD595's
-they do alright for rock/pop but they are just simply not detailed enough for classical. Listening to classical almost made me want to cry it sounded so bad

*listening done via my normal headphone setup
always like your reviews. I was wondering about them. But seeing your review, I am just gonna go with either some Senn HD-555's or 595's or some Beyer DT770/880's.

But still nice review.

Do you really thing burning them in will help? I mean if you have bad cans they are just gonna be bad cans with more hours on them.

yes, burning in does help quite a few cans. When I first got my Koss A130's I wasn't too impressed, but they have gotten better with time.
My Senn HD595's have gotten a lot better over time.

if you get Beyer's get the dT770's they are supposed to be the best gaming cans period

Yea same thing with my Koss KSC-75's they sounded a little bright out of the box but nowthat they have like 200+ hours on them they are pretty well balanced for extreme budget clips.

right now I am gaming a little bit with my grados, but i don't want to hurt them cause I know they aren't made for gaming at all. I am trying to find a cheap place to get the Beyers. (Can't find lower then $215, if you know anywhere let me know!!) If not ill probally just go with the senns. The cans im gonna get are gonna be dedicated gaming/music cans. Not gonna do really critical listening as when I wear my Grados.

Also with the Beyer's should I get the 80's or the 250's?? Im gonna be using them unamped for right now.

you should mod your ksc75's!!!

my ksc75's are quarter modded and recabled with SPC
my wife's ksc75s are placed in modded Sony V150 (made them open instead of closed) and then I kramer modded hers as well. they are also recabled with SPC

you won't hurt your grado's by gaming with them... but they aren't very good for gaming!
what model do you have?

I got the infamously bad sr-125's but I love them. They aren't bright or anything. I think they are just fine for me. I would like to upgrade to some SR-225's if I get the money. But I think the beyers will come first.

Yea i know they don't have a very big sound stage. but my x-fi helps that with the CMSS feature.

What I really want to do is mod my grados so I don't have to play with them everytime I use them to get the wires/earcups from twisting around and what not. That would be a good mood right now lol.

hmm really haven't looked into modding the KSC75's would be easy enough. I got like 3 pairs left over from the radioshack sale when I was exporting them. I guess I could give it a shot.

No you see interest, because I'm not an audiophile...so I really don't know the difference between a good set of cans and an average..which I'm assuming mine are average.

EDIT: Actually...I dunno if you can call my headset cans...they're nice and small

Well if I ever get another headset....It'll most likely be the medusa 5.1s

With a new sound card of course...this one isn't good enough for medusas.

well, I thought I should give an update after the headphones have been broken in a bit.

I still feel that the build quality is lacking, and I have not used the mic at all so I cannot comment on that.

comfort:

the earpads are soft, but are not that big, so they aren't too cushy. Also the cups are shallow and so my ears touch and I don't have large ears. the headband is fine.

SQ:

the bass has picked up a bit, it still lacks in deep bass extension, and it is not too tight, but they have decent bass response.

The mids still sound veiled to me.

Highs are not as shrill as they were new, but they are not very smooth.

Overall, they have a decent sound signature that is more then adequate for gaming, as most games don't utilize great quality sound files. The sound stage is still rather small for gaming, but it gets the job done. I would not suggest these cans for listening to music, as they do not sound that good and do not have a musical/smooth sound to them.

Value:

I still stand by my initial comments that I do not feel the siberias are worth the MSR, but if you can get them on sale for $40 or less then they are a pretty decent buy. They are better then the cheap headphones most people use, but they cannot compare to a high quality pair of audiophile cans.

Do you think they are better than the Sennheiser PC150's? I was gonna pick up a pair of icemats, but didn't have enough cash at the time, so I just bought the PC150 (i needed them for a lan party a while back, i didnt have too much time to save a little more and get the icemats
