Idle temp for Q6600 on stock cooling.

Just curious well it turns out there was a lot of crap on my heatsink and I removed the gunk and place a clean fresh layer of the thermal paste. My question is that according to real temp my Temperature in Celsius is 48/45/45/38. The bios reading is totally wacked! it showed 54 and real temp is showing the results posted earlier.

Is that normal and what's the actual temperature for the Q6600 with stock cooling?

I most likely will need to get a better cooler if this continues. And will.

well now its at 43/43/39/42 for temperature

and the TJ max is slightly higher than usual.

57/57/61/58 Normal?
u are using real temp right?

well distance to tjmax doesn't matter ur temperatures are a normal for a quad

just in case load it up with some stress test like prime 95 and see the load temps after 10 mins

intel's thermal specifications for q6600 are 72C i think

yep okay thanks. The reading in the bios was really wacked! It was once showing 120C
and I felt the chip and it didn't even feel at 50 degrees.Although my GPU is another story 70 degrees right now.

TO fix the bios do you recommend updating the nforce drivers?

Is Prime 95 the program? Sorry kinda of a n00b when it comes to knowing the idle temperatures. Don't really consider those things. But now its hovering at 44/43 so its pretty much fine atm.

What's the airflow like in your case? Too little exhaust airflow can let the hot air recirculate inside the case, and that will bring your idle temps up.
Supposed to use CoreTemp for 65nm processors and RealTemp for 45nm. I'd suggest you give CoreTemp a try. As for idle temps, those seem really high for stock, and I would suggest a re seat.
