Well i think everything is pretty much clear from the title

I want to use LEDs or LED strip(s)... Illumination is for an ITX board so the tray is pretty small. How would i achieve equaly dispersed lighting of the acrylic plate? should i sink a LED into each corner of it? or for that ITX size, would sinking a single LED on the center of the plate be enough?

I do not want it to shine like Studio 54, it just has to be visible that it is illuminated. Discreetly.

You need a special acrylic that has particles imbedded in it.
Otherwise it won't "glow".

To get it to glow you need to disperse the light there are a number of ways you can do this:

1) using wax paper (or something similar) between the plexi and the LEDs
2) using Frosted plastic also does a pretty good job as well (either buy it frosted or buy frosted plates)
3) this one can be costly there is a material you can buy that is made up of woven fiber optic fibers (have to get the side glow fibers not end-glow) then you only need 1 led to light the whole thing. But finding this "fabric" in a quantity large enough to cover the back of a mobo i'm not sure :/

If you illuminate the edge of plexi, they other edges will be illuminated.. If you cut the edges at an angle and then light the middle with another cut it should turn out something like below. (sanding it a bit would take out the roughness/make it look more evenly lit.
