How important is the RAM type on a card? like, how much better is GDDR3 than GDDR2? Does shader model 3.0 really make that much of a difference right now? if so, does it give you a performance boost at all?

Thanks in advance. :3

gddr,gddr2,gddr3,gddr4,
the higher the number, the faster the ram is. ths does have an impact.
shader model 3,onceagain the higher the number the better the performance.

Rule of thumb : the more the merrier.

try out this site
http://www.tomshardware.com
lots of good stuff there.

SM3 really make a difference when playing a game.... it looks so much more realistic than with SM2... so i say definatley get a card with SM3.... ddr3 is a must in my eyes aswell, its faster, less power hungry, and runs quite cool aswell.....so more performance with less cost....get all these things in your card and youll be set for a while and very happy with the way games and such will look!

Perhaps I've been in the dark a bit but last time I checked sm3.0 was barely any different from sm2.0

I have to agree now aswell.. I just did some searches on it and SM3 looked no different than SM2.
