I'm no good with Audio

I like crisp clean audio, but I'm not the best with knowing what to buy. I'm aiming for around $100 and I planned on ordering the Creative x-fi Xtreme Audio, as well as Sennheiser HD-212's. Each are right around $50. I have a set of Logitech X-540s but I'm tired of Realtek onboard. >_>

What does OCN think of these?

The HD212s are a good choice, but I would get an X-FI Xtreme Music (refurbished direct from Creative). The reasoning there is that the Xtreme Audio is not a "real" X-Fi - it has the name, but none of the same processing capability. Essentially, it is a rebranded Audigy SE.
Darn. Well is there anything reasonably priced? I was checking out the xtrememusic originally and it is just kind of....well....$100.
Most of the midrange sound cards range from 80~100.
Well the problems sparking my initiative to go ahead and get this last upgrade for my computer would be that my Realtek Onboard is beginning to disperse more whitenoise, making it hard to play a game or watch a movie with headphones.

The second reason, is that my right speaker in my headphones blew.

I heard the XtremeAudio will be way better than onboard no matter what, but only a little better than onboard for games. Which is 100% fine by me. I'm by no means an audiophile. I browsed a few of the threads in this forum before I posted, and most of the people are asking for recommendations on $300 budgets. I am 16, make about $300-$400 per month, of which $150 goes towards car expenses. I can't just blow my monthly wages on something like this.

So, yes or no, is the XtremeAudio way better than Realtek onboard? Getting rid of whitenoise is my #1 priority.

The refurbished XtremeMusic like Chipp suggested (and I own) is $45 +s/h from Creative:

Yes the XtremeAudio is much better then onboard but I would get the card Chipp suggested, especially at that price

Man I hate being 16 without parents who will co-sign for a debit card >_>

I planned on buying the X-audio because it was on Bestbuy for $40 which is a good deal. I could pick that up locally rather than having to go through my parents to get their debit card (even though I pay for my stuff, they give me a hard time about spending so much on my PC).

But I guess this is a good deal, I should take it.
How about the XtremeGamer? I can get that brand new for $40.

Thats a good card and decent deal.

(Spec wise, it is the same as the Xtreme Music, just with a different PCB layout)

I have an XtremeGamer card that I have had for a couple years now. I have been very pleased with it. I mostly like the fact that it has it own small ram chip so that it doesn't draw from your main one. As for sound quality, I want to say it's quite good, but can't say for sure as I have nothing to compare it with (previous card was a Sound Blaster 512).

Only downside is, unless they've changed it, it's a huge card. I have it on the bottom PCI slot, with an SLI set up... and there's only one slot between the bottom vid. card and the sound card. The sound card is bigger than my 7600GT card which means a more constricted air flow.

My 4870 runs icy cool so I don't think I should have a problem with that.
I'm gonna go for it!
