Some time ago, we have published an article, which gave you an insight on why Bulldozer failed.

As it turns out, we have missed few things that are far more interesting and as you will see by the end of this article, it’s the management who’s to blame.

Isn't it usually management that's to blame?

I see this type of situation all too often. Armies of less skilled juniors brought in with the hopes that they get the same work done as the highly paid seniors for less money. In the end all that happens is the budget is blown, deadlines are long shot and the product is far inferior. I literally can't name a time where this hasn't been the result.

Anyone feel bad for AMD? I messed around with my buddy about how much of a fail BD is. Now...I'm starting to feel bad for AMD. I'm not a fanboy of AMD nor Intel, I like both, but it seems AMD might not be around in a few years if they keep going like this.

Nah, dont feel bad for them, they are fine. Feel bad for us, the consumers. Rather you prefer Intel or AMD, we lose when chips dont succeed.

True, but CPUs are essential for them too. It's not good if you're selling well in one department and bad in the other. I guess you can say GPUs are a niche market. Not every consumer really needs a good GPU let alone know what a GPU is.

Remember that there was a management and CEO change prior to Bulldozers release and the new guy canned a load of products.

Bulldozer couldnt be canned as it was nigh on release.

I'm more interested in the products the new CEO will be leading and how they do.

The source that is linked on Insideris leads to a MacRumors forum post about Apple considering adopting AMD chips...

Fabricated article or am I missing something?

Yeah it would be even worse for us if AMD went under. No AMD and Intel still sells the i7 2600K in 2015 for $300...that would suck.

"Yeah. Like replacing the 40-man team that designed A64 with a 250 man team for minor design changes."

...Wow. It should be common knowledge that smaller teams work better.

I mean, really, look at the P4. It had a massive design team...Guess where Conroe came from? A tiny team in Israel.

honestly bulldozer can still do something good, but it needs to be dirt cheap to do it

if it get a large enough market share consumer level programs will be pushed to better multi-thread support, meaning octo-core cpus would be needed, and thus push intel and amd to design(better for amd) octo-core cpus for the consumer since there is a market for them

no company would bring to market products that don't have a market to sell to, it's basic economics, it does suck they the first octo core cpu for consumers has trouble keeping up with the previous gen from the same company, but i see it as a necessary step forward. . .

would i buy or recommend a bulldozer cpu, nope.

There we go.

Bulldozer architecture is from the Dirk Meyer era, right? We can hope right that the new CEO puts to good work the new architecture... And refloat AMD again.

Man, more than ever, I wish I could get a job at AMD as soon as I finish my electronics engineering degree

My school has co-op with AMD. There's a '99 graduate that interviews for co-op with AMD. He worked at SGI, ATI, and now AMD.

Lets not use blanket statements k?

I'd love to see your 5770 fold greater than it's nVidia counterpart.

Everyone has different uses for their cards, no one company is better than the other, else there would only be one company.
