Grab a copy of ERD (Emergency Recovery/Repair Disk) and make a bootable copy of it.
Boot to it, use system restore. See if that fixes your issue.

Inspiron 1520 lockup.
My grandmoms got a Dell Inspiron 1520, its a fairly new laptop, so its not old hardware or anything. it worked completely fine less than an hour ago.
I went out, got my hair cut, came back and now when i log on ( vista ) it says "welcome" and it loads for about 5 minutes, then it just locks up. I cant even get to the desktop, i did chckdsk, and it removed and recovered some things, but the problem still persists.
Any ideas?
