I just installed a new graphics card today. When it was installing drivers, it also installed Nvidia's Hi-Def audio drivers. That screwed things up a bit. My speakers and headphones are no longer recognized.

I uninstalled these and Windows immediately reinstalled some drivers. Same problem, though. They're not being recognized by my PC. It keeps looking for HDMI Audio, but I don't have any HDMI inputs plugged in.

Any help?

Uninstall EVERYTHING from your Nvidia drivers. Then run DriverSweeper, remove anything by Realtek and Nvidia. Do DriverSweeper in safe mode.

Disconnect yourself from the Internet entirely.

Then reinstall your sound drivers (if you don't have them, get them from your motherboard's website first before doing any of this).

Restart.

Once you've restarted again, you SHOULD have audio back, but no video drivers installed.

Reinstall the latest Nvidia drivers, and DO NOT install the Audio package from Nvidia.

I had the same exact issue just a few days ago.
