Hey guys. I have a socket 478 mobo, P4PE-X by ASUS. I just ordered an XP-90 and plan on installing it myself. Is there anything I should know for safety precautions? Are there any sites which you could direct me to that could show me what exactly to do, just so I can make sure I'm doing it right? I don't want to f..mess this up. Thanks

When I first bought the XP-90, it was my first time installing a HSF and what-not.
With the manual, I knew exactly what to do, and it was easy.
One piece of advice from me: In the future, when you take off the HSF to re-apply the thermal paste or change the processor and what-not, just be careful. It gave me blisters. We'll get to that part later when you actually need to do that.
It's easy, no sweat. Don't worry. Just remember to use AS5, and not that white grease stuff that comes stock w/ XP-90.

Its a good cooler. The only draw back, is the hold down brackets are a little stiff. So like Zipnogg said. Prepare for blisters. Naa, its not that bad.
I actually had to bend my brackets to make it a little easier to mount and unmount it when i cleaned it.
What fan are you putting on that?

In looking for reviews of this heatsink I came across several good articles. This one seems to be the best from an installation standpoint with good pictures and a hint on page 4 about tilting the heatsink. Take a look here:

Wow guys you are quick! Awesome advice too. I'm getting a Panaflo of some sort...he threw it in to an additional 5 bucks so i didnt ask! He said its decent. Helped alot, I'll post back here when I get the fan. I had AS5 but I ran out helping out my buds n stuff. I do have some OCz overclocking paste. It cost 10 bucks so it should do

As long as its socket 478 it doesnt matter.

Well it finally cam yesterday! I installed it, man was that a breeze! I was shocked at how easy it was. I had the fan in, in a matter of seconds. The installation on my compact case was a sinch. Awesome airflow, a little loud though

XP-90 = 32c - 37c OC'ed CPU
I have the CPU at 3.3GhZ. It wasn't stable at 3.4. My Vcore is at 1.575 and my ram is at 387mhz 1:1

Fan gets a 10/10 from me, amazingly easy install, awesome cooling! What more could you ask.

man, if you think that thing is loud, you havent used a vantec tornado. I got one along with my xp-90 from lohoutlaw here, and man, that thing is a monster at full speed

Putting it on is very easy. Taking it off is much trickier. If you are not careful you can strip the cpu from its socket.
Take off the hooks from two diagonal corners first; you can usually do this manually. Then, hold down on the HSF in the center to prevent it from springing up and use a small flat screwdriver to carefully insert between the remaining two hooks and their slots on the bracket. Twist the screwdriver to apply tension to the bracket and they should pop out easily.
Once it's all free, twist your HSF a few times to free up the sink from the AS5.
Like I said, trickier to take off than to put on.
Well, that's my technique that I've worked out. No blisters needed.
