Intel/AMD Heat Question

First of all, this is a general question and is not intended to start a battle between processors. That being said, I'm going from an AMD 965 to an Intel Core i7 (1366). I've been trying to learn about the difference in overclocking options and the most prevalent thing that comes to mind is heat. My 965 could go about 55c before going unstable, but I've heard the i7's go 70c+. Why is that? What causes the i7 to last at higher temps than the AMD 965? I can't imagine the chip being able to run well that hot.

Unstable at 55C? I doubt it. What test did you use to determine that it was the temperature causing the instability? I've done suicide runs where my X3 720 idled at 67C.
GPU chips are built to withstand tempuratures up to 110C.

It's just based on how the chips are designed. (By the way, I've seen my 940 get up to 62C with no adverse affects.)

OCCT, Prime95, and LinPack. 55c was the magic temperature for both my 955 and 965 for BSOD. Either way, the 9xx is rated to run at 62c whereas the i7 is acceptable at 70c+.
