Intel Pentium D830 - 3677MHZ Overclocked.

Hi! I've been working on this CPU for a while and I've managed to get a stable overclock of 3677MHZ. Not very impressive, but also not totally worthless
.

Its stable @ 65C on air. What is just acceptable, since these are known to run very hot. I could push this to 3700, maybe even 3800MHZ but then the temps will get to high. If i had this CPU on water i would have no problem getting it over 4Ghz. I would have to get a different PSU, since this is a 550W B-brand.

I had to push the Vcore up high in the bios to get this stable;

- CPU: Lapped D830 @ 3677, (22% Overclock)
- Mobo: Asus P5K
- Cooling: Zalman Copper
- Vcore: 1.4200 @ bios, Actual reading in Windows is 0,1 Lower.
- FSB: 245 Mhz
- Timings: 5-5-5-15, 1:1 Ratio
- Temps: Idle: 46C
- Temps: Load: 65C

It seems that to get A D8xx series stable you need to push the Vcore Up high, so dont be afraid to crank that Voltage up when you have a decent cooler when you are having issues with stability.

They run Hot. So get a good air cooler, or if you want to go over 3700-3800MHZ get water, or a one step higher cooler like a V-8. But its better to straight go for water if you want to get these speeds. But since this is a old cow, its probably a better idea to save that money up and buy a Quad, or Six-core CPU
. But i just like Overclocking.

Go higher.

Use realtemp dude. Speed fan sucks at actually give ACCURATE temps. You can push 80 on those chips. It wont kill it. Do not be afraid to push more voltages if need be. Try getting your highest overclock and keep what you have right now as your primary. That is how I hit 4.0GHz on my Q6600.

You recon 80C? Wow, Cool!. Im going to download Realtemp and see what this tells me and I'm going to push it up abit more

Edit: Lol, Realtemp does not seem to Support D830. I've downloaded the updated version of SpeedFan (4.40).

Haha, i got it upto 3795MHZ. But my system would be instable and benchmarks wouldnt run. The Vcore had to go up dangerus high so i called it a quit and keep it on 3677 MHZ. I could have got this stable by increasing the Vcore with another 0,03, that would be 1.65V vs the 1.22V standard. And im not risking that without water

- CPU: Lapped D830 @ 3795, (26.5% Overclock)
- Mobo: Asus P5K
- Cooling: Zalman Copper
- Vcore: 1.62500 (was showing in Red) @ bios, Actual reading in Windows is 0,1 Lower.
- FSB: 245 Mhz
- Timings: 5-5-5-15, 1:1 Ratio
- Temps: Idle: 50C
- Temps: Load: 78C
