Intel SSD Gen 1 v Gen 2

How does one tell the generation one versus generation two SSD's? I see this model for sale:

SSDSA2MH160G2C1

I assumed that the G2 meant generation 2, but given the price of these I wanted to be sure before I drop cash on it. My confusion is they seem to have multiple OEM SKUs. Anther OEM sku is SSDSA2MH160G201 which seems other wise the same though the drive itself is thinner (7 versus 9.5 mm).

I just don't want to make a mistake on the purchase if I can avoid it, so I'm second guessing myself.

The G2 in the part number means its a generation 2 SSD. I have two G1s in my rig and just checked the part numbers.

Thanks guys, just wanted to be sure. Is there a reason for the wild swings in price from sites that are usually pretty close to each other in price? Newegg has this for 539 which is where i usually buy from, but TigerDirect has it for 479, which is enough difference to get me to consider my normal bias against TD.

Yeah I noticed it as well. It seemed that the Egg doesn't have the best prices when it comes to the Intel SSDs' I bought my second one from somewhere else as well.
The MSRP was originally supposed to be $450 so Newegg has always had it way over that (started at $700). If you watch the deals Newegg has had it at $415-$420 the last couple weeks with coupon codes.

Here's what I found when I was asking the same thing about the 80 gig version.

* SSDSA2MH080G2
* SSDSA2MH080G201
* SSDSA2MH080G2C1

Packaging Numbers (last two characters)

01- OEM without spacers (7mm)
C1- OEM with spacer (7mm + 2.5mm spacer)
R5- Retail Version with spacers and 3.5" adapter

also the biggest difference between the two is that G2 drives support TRIM while G1 do not.

Yeah but you can use the Tony-Trim on all the drives even on Raid 0 without any problems.
