Here's the link and it only works when you have Intel Turbo boost enabled.

Seem like a pretty good gadget.

this looks stupid. but ill try it.
Wait, what does it do? "shows" turbo boost? I'd rather whip out real temp. Last time I did, I found out why my super PI score was soo much higher than it usually is.... and why I couldn't pass prime sometimes. It set one of my cores to 4.6 GHz or so :S
Here's a video on what it does. Why would anyone still use winzip? Lmao!

It's not really turbo per say.

Okay, it is Turbo in the sense it's the 21x multi instead of 20x.

But it's a forced speed; always 21x198; no fluctuations.

In your BIOS are you running Intel EIST, CIE support?

No.

How Gigabyte allows the higher multi is thru use of Turbo.

So Turbo is technically forced @ one multi higher, but it cannot clock lower.

That's why the gadget reports Turbo is active.

It technically is; just it is forced.

Did you see the temps on the cores when he ran 4 threads? they were in the 90s. I thought mine were high with 72C with 8 threads running.

He was idling at 52C+ I'm idling at 33C at 4.2ghz.

The gadget seems like a waste to me.

You know what would be cool? If the turbo boost shut off the other 3 cores completely and just added all the speed from those cores to one single core effectively creating a uber fast single core machine clocked at 10+ghz. That would be sweet

you wouldn't know if your CPU was idling at 33c, if that's what realtemp and other temp monitors showed, then it's not going to be accurate. It could be 10c hotter, or 10c cooler for all you know.

yea the gadget looks like a waste.

My Asus laptop has that gadget, and it is resizable. There should be a button that appears outside the right edge of the gadget's border when you move your cursor there. It scales the gadget down to a smaller resolution.
