Very nice
Darn you Lysdexik, you're making me want to get an SSD or two!

Very impressive results.
Wow.

I already have most everything that I need on the drive, other than a few games that I will install. Everything else goes on my 1TB Black.

Also, I don't think it will slow down even if I do fill the drive because I don't/won't have any applications that launch when windows starts up. I keep it to a minimum and that is what I think would slow it down the most. All of my services were tweaked so that I can get the experience that I want with the least programs/tasks running.

That doesn't seem any faster then mine, your machine goes though POST faster but from actually loading windows it sems no faster.
What exactly did you tweak? How big was the windows 7 install? Looks good so far. Mine comes today! How do you like it so far? Any differences from the black?
that is pretty fast. but honestly, you just disuaded me from buying a ssd. my seagate barracuda takes another 20 seconds or so to load what your ssd takes. is 20 seconds worth the money? it isn't to me.

don't get me wrong here. i think the tech is impressive, just not anywhere near worth the money.

kudos to the OP for the upgrade!

If he maintains it properly, this won't be an issue.

Also, there's a huge flaw here; SSDs aren't just about boot times. Everything will run faster, load times in games will be drastically reduced, and multi-tasking won't slow down the system nearly as much as it would with a normal hard drive.

Can you explain your reasoning? TRIM is now available for Intel drives and since there are no moving parts, why would it slow down? I know first gen SSDs did due to garbage collection and wiping not being as good as TRIM, but now that TRIM is out, why will it slow down?

Well if you don't run TRIM or at least newer garbage collection, there will be a slow but gradual reduction in random access performance over time. Even after running the gamut with multiple OS reinstalls and then completely filling the drive, though, a good SSD will still be faster than the fastest hard drives.

Sorry, I don't mean to make it all about boot times because he is right, it really isn't.

I just saw a huge difference in boot times with my setup, took close to 2 minutes to be fully loaded up on my 1TB Black, as opposed to 25 seconds with the SSD.

I tested out Modern Warfare 2 on the HDD and SSD, It took about a minute to get the game launched, through the intro screens and to the the point where I could select missions whereas on the SSD, it took exactly 3.5 seconds.. so yeah.

I tried using the WD drive after using the SSD for a few hours, and I can tell you it is worth every single penny that you pay to get an SSD because I sat there waiting for things to load which were instant on the SSD.

Exactly what I've been trying to convey since I got mine. Despite the rise in SSD prices, they're still worth it and I'll recommend one every time the user has the budget for it.

Just to show that not only do they boot faster, but the OS is ready to be used very quick too

Plus, I have "Avira" set to boot as early as pos. Which was supposed to slow boot times!

edit
Video removed until I find better sound track
