hi people. THIS IS AN I7 SYSTEM i only just got it ( I have yet to change my system specs )

got hold of a ASUS rampage 2 extreme motherboard and I am having SSD problems with it ( stuttering freezing solid HDD light stuck )

now this is not something I was expecting to run into cos the last motherboard that had the ich9r sata controller on it had no problems with SSD's ...how is it possible you can up grade and end up worse then when you started . ?

I just paid shi*t loads for this motherboard and now i got problems.

i only hope there is something that i am missing.

ANYWAY. RESULTS..

are you using msachi or intel storage driver? I've found with single SSD that the stock MS driver with TRIM+GC enabled gets the best performance.. in the case of RAID, load latest intel RAID driver.

hmm, if it's non-TRIM then you can just use a wiper util such as in the intel SSD tools package. should restore the performance if that's the issue.

turns out that the problems is mainly down to writes and not reads.
but i am still not to sure how to go about this. cant get crystal mark to go over 60MB/s ( ment to be 80MB.s) on writes no matter what I do ....I'm starting to think there is some kind of floor in the ICH10R controller. for the time being I cant use the SSD, and i am not upgrading any time soon. ( I just did)

if your installing stuff computer freezes and you have to wait, if you copy stuff computer freezes, if your just opening apps its oK.

the motherboard is awesome but this is a big let-down

so it was not the motherboard is must have been something with the drivers for xp....

don't worry about that. i get the same speeds. its blazing fast. remember that if you have any raid configuration that not to be in achi mode but raid mode so your computer can detect it also your speeds probably increase. i ran achi mode and it took me 1:30 for boot but raid config in bios took me 30 secs. idk what to tell you really
