Anyone know where I can get one? Preferably veryyyyyy long (3-5m)

All I can find are one's that are a few inches long, I'm guessing I'm going to have to buy the stuff and make one myself :[

Check over at head-fi.org, people usually sell some... but a LOD that long is going to be kind of expensive

I don't want a high end cable, theres no way I could afford one. Just want something better than cheap tat. The alternative is to buy an iPod Dock, which I don't really want and will cost around £70 for a decent one.

it's still not going to be cheap... LODs aren't the easiest cables to make (aren't the hardest either though...
) and what you're asking for is really a custom cable.

If you don't care about sleeving or nice RCA plugs and as long as you don't need it to be shielded one could be made easily enough that would fit your needs.

When you use the headphone out, the music is amplified by the iPod's internal Amp and then an external Amp, by using the LOD (Line Out Device) you are bypassing that and letting the external Amp to the work.

The end result should be better sound, as the original data has had less done to it.

Jacob, you have mail.

Depending on the cost of such a cable, I might have to get a dock :[

Can't you take that short cable and use extenders?

I knew there'd be a simple solution I hadn't thought of.

I'll look into some RCA extensions, thank you sir.

Cambridge Audio have a nice little dock, and it's not very expensive. I actually used it in richersounds when I demo'd my speakers as I was using my ipod as the source. At the time (beginning of January) the dock cost £9.99 and I really wish I had picked one up now as it's gone up to £19.99, but I guess you could try to make a deal with them. Here's the dock I was on about anyway: http://www.richersounds.com/showprod...ID10-IPOD-DOCK

I'm gonna go with an extension cable once I find a decent quality one, thanks for the suggestion though.

No problem, I can't believe I didn't think of the RCA extensions myself to be honest haha! I guess it's late and my brain wasn't functioning

Np, we can't all be as good as Moots.

Anyway here's what I'll most likely get.

Twin Phono Adapter

+

QED Quinex 2 RCA 3m

Under £30 and I'll get a small LOD cable

Thanks all.

I was thinking along the lines of constructing a cable from components, nothing as simple as extensions/adapters

I have a better solution...

get something like this:
http://www.sendstation.com/us/produc...neout-usb.html
(better ones can be made DIY, but again probably at a higher price)

And then get a good quality mini-RCA and you can use it for this and anything else. Much more practical.

btw, I responded to your email.

Looks a nice solution but I don't need the USB function, the overall cost of that + a decent length/quality mini/RCA vs a small LOD to RCA + RCA to RCA is around the same and I think I'd get better durability with the LOD + RCA solution.

Thanks for the suggestion, have a pretend +REP :]

Perhaps, you could learn how to make a cable? A lot of reading/work but in the end it could be worth it
