Is it worth the upgrade?

Hi, Everyone!. I currently have an eVGA 780i - A1 Edition board with an 3.1 Ghz Clocked Q6600. I have two GTX 280's in SLI mode running my Dell 30" and my 20" side monitor. I was wondering from all the other people who used to run the 7XX series chipset, is it worth the upgrade to i7 series? I mean i read the benchmarks and I tried a i5 series computer. But i didn't really feel the difference. I just wanted everyone's personal experience on it. =D

Can you not get more speed out of the Q6600?
As if you get it to 3.8GHz I think it would be good for quite a while yet!

I maxed out this cpu at 3.5. It won't boot into 3.6 no matter what I do. I was running 3.4 ghz for awhile I just decided to go back to 3.1 since I change rams. I probably clocked back up to 3.5ghz when I get the time. You think I should be good for awhile if I just stay at 3.5?
I think it would also depend on what you are using your PC for. I agree that if you can get 3.6-3.8 outta that Q, thats close. I was considering an upgrade, but I'm gonna wait as, although there will be an improvement, I don;t think it is enough of one to justify the $$.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I mean If there's like a significant improvement, I can justify the money, but if there's just going to be like a 15% increase or so I mean I don't think it would be worth it. I use my computer for programming and my occasional gaming such as MW 1 & 2.

Yeah, I got a good deal on chipset cooler so I'll probably redo my h2o loop when I get the new gtx 280s. I'll see how high i can go before I see the windows 7 bsod for the first time lol. I'm pretty shure i can hit 3500 stable. If i'm lucky I can hit 3.6 =D then I will be happy lol.
