The short (if below is tl;dr): My current rig is listed; is it worth upgrading to a 2500k or 2600k build for a gamer who enjoys having new tech?

I'm a mid-level computer hardware enthusiast, that much is true. I play a variety of computer games, from old to new. I benchmark from time to time just for fun (to see where I'm at and what I can overclock to without damaging my hardware). Guess I'm somewhat like an average overclocker.

So, is it worth upgrading from an AMD x4 955 (overclocks to 4GHz on air stable 24/7, and I've gotten it up to a smidge over 4.2GHz for air benchmarks)? I'd be obviously getting a 2500k or 2600k.

I would be selling my old setup (either to a family member or on craigslist) for whatever I can manage to get from it.

Would you say it's worth the upgrade, just for the satisfaction of having the new stuff? Or is there something worth waiting for? (I'm not an Intel or AMD fanboy, I enjoy whatever is new and fastest). I'm considering on a new rig to go all-out and get watercooling, but I don't want to regret it in 6 months when an air-cooled rig with an even new processor would be better (I like having things last about two years before I really feel an urge to upgrade).

IMO, wait on LGA 2011 unless you specifically need the greater speed for something.

Well, as long as my plan goes... according to plan. I'll be able to tomorrow or Saturday. It'll be a fun upgrade.

I want to get a new SSD, but I hear better SSD's are coming out soon... but I might just get one now anyways as well.

As for the graphics... thinking I'll wait on that. No games are out that I play intensive graphics on (just sc2 and cod black ops)... I'm waiting on Crysis 2, Diablo 3, and a few other games... so I am hoping 28nm cards or something better than the current offerings comes out in Q2/Q3 of 2011.
