Is it worth upgrading to a 4890 PCS ?

I have a 512MB 4870. I'm thinking of selling it and upgrading to Powercolor's overclocked 4890 PCS 1GB. My resolution is 1920x1200. I was wondering if I would have some noticable performance improvements specially at 1920x1200 when everythin is maxed out. Any ideas ?

You would see an improvement, pretty big in most games at your native res. But I would suggest waiting.

HD5000 cards will probably drop after Christmas if Fermi cards come out, so then might be the time to buy.
Would there be a difference? Yes there would. But it all comes down to if you're willing to wait the 3-6 months for 58xx to compete with fermi and have prices drop to reasonable levels.

No I don't actually. Because my 4870's price is getting lower and lower day by day. I have a chance to sell it for a good price right now and he is waiting for an answer from me. I'm trying to decide what to do actually. 5-6 months from now I'll have to sell my 4870 for a pretty much lower price than now and it will be harder for me to fill the price gap for a new card and upgrade. Another point is I've always wanted to have one of those 4890 PCS's. You know I'm thinking like I guess 4890 PCS will give very good performance in most of the games for upcoming year or two. When directx 11 games start to come up maybe then I'll start to think about upgrading to a directx 11 card up to that date. I don't know, I can't decide...

Because on the other hand of course the question remains "when will the fermi come out and how will it effect the 5xxx series prices ?" for which nobody have the exact answer.

Q1 is fermi release, besides that its all in the air.
But you'll love a 4890 if you do get it. I say do it and dont look back.
512mb at your resolution ain't cutting it anymore. Get the 4890. Last time I checked, there aren't even that many DX10 games out right now, much less DX11.
