is Kuma worth upgrading to?

I have seen a various amount of topics on the forums about people upgrading to Kuma and I am trying to decide if it is time yet.

I currently have a BE-2400 aka Brisbane 4400 which I bought brand new for 32 shipped off Newegg and its been a great little processor but the Phenom Series has me thinking.

Should I get it now or should I wait till the price falls some more?

it depends on how much you want to spend and or how long you want to wait
kuma dropped its price from 75 to 59 i think it will drop more when april rolls around... if you have $65 yes kuma is good
it has a huge cache which makes it better than any other x2 non phenom amd CPU

if you're on a budget, i guess. it'll give you more than 20% of performance boost from your current in terms of clock for clock. and you can oc the kuma more.

but i highly suggest you add $50 and go for an ph2 710 tricore at least. it will give you a lot of performance increase, and a smoother experience since the extra core will be the one handling the background apps.
I would agree with the two above me,
if you are satisfied with your system for the time being - or you can manage using it for another month or two (although not as much fun), I would say see where the prices are in that time.

I use the Kuma, and I like it for the price/value, but since you already have a 2400 @ 2.9ghz, I'm not sure if dumping another $65 into a Kuma for marginal performance increase would be worth it. If I were in your shoes, and price was a factor, I'd probably hang on to what I currently have for a bit longer and, as gerikoh said, pick up a ph2 for better increase in performance for your effort/money.
yeah, go PHII if you are going to upgrade.

Or maybe look for a 9850 or a 9950 used for a good price.
It's probably not worth it. I'd wait a little bit and buy a phenom II 720 if I were you.
depends what you do mate. if you just want a lil boost of performance. yeah get the kuma. if you into gaming and such. 50-60 bucks more a huge amount of performance will increase.

I disagree because I think his gpu setup is bottlenecking him more than his cpu @ 2.9ghz...

I agree, I'm very happy with my 9850 and I didn't break the bank either, 137 on Newegg. Although I'm kicking myself in the A$$ for not getting a combo deal that included a Xigmatek HDT S-1283 cooler for only 7 bucks more

I'd say get a 710. If your board can handle the clock speeds, it'll overclock very well. It's basically the same thing as a 720 with a locked multiplier. Not to mention if/when you want to upgrade to a purely AM3 platform you wont have to buy a new CPU.
