With a radeon 5450 (im in between cards) I got 7000 on the pass mark performance test and i get 30 fps avg in minecraft on loweest settings and far render distance....***! This cannot be normal can it?

ps screen resolution is 2560 by 1440p

I would check that your chip is bumping itself up out of the lower clock levels because of speedstep. It may be a minecraft optimization error, install optifine. Also, it may be a memory allocation issue. I would check both of those first.
