I tried to open an old movie, it hung my system and kmplayer told me there was an error reading the file. My system never really recovered( things wouldn't open, other programs would hang), so i restarted and the same thing happened. I shut down, dusted my system and restarted twice and it seems to be WORKING now, but just barely. My hard drives are making excessive noise, so i checked their health, and SMART says they're fine. I ran hdtune and this is what i got.
I ran it on my other hard drive and i got normal results, so i don't think its the mobo or anything like that, here is a screenshot of the other one.
I kinda need advice urgently, should install windows on the other HD and start using that until i get this figured out?
I don't have any other drives big enough to handle all my data, but most of it is replaceable, i'm going to install windows on the other hard drive and use it to back up what i need to, that will take me a while, but please keep giving advice.
and since this will obviously need replacing, i thinking about an ssd boot drive/storage drive combo, how much would one run me do you guys think?

EDIT: SSDs are only worth getting for programs that you frequently use.. Installing your OS on a SSD will make it boot incredibly fast and same goes for games.. Ofcourse you could also save very important files on there that you don't want to lose in case of a failing HDD.
All of the SSD's that I've seen, handled, and installed were 2.5 inch. I used adapter brackets for mounting or you can just mount them wherever you like as they take up very little space. I'd opt for a 64 GB or 128 GB for your operating system though I would pick the first drive you listed if that's what you're wanting. Hope this helps
hmm, i don't know what kind of budget i'm working with yet, but that does seem like a good option, ~$60 more for double the capacity.
As far as storage goes, would this drive be able to handle some gaming? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136317
My most frequent games would go on the SSD, but there wouldn't neccasarily be room for all of them.
I myself would skip SSD for now and get standard hardrives then in a couple years get SSD by then you will be able to get top of the line with more storage and most likely at a third of the cost.
Any SSD you buy now will be outdated and worthless in a year or two, Only SSD I'd consider now is the Patriot SSD with a 10-Year Warranty at least that way you might feel like you got your monies worth, LOL
Yeah, it sounds like it is dying. By the way How can i know if my SSD is Dying? Yesterday everything was cool. Today when i try to start my computer, it tels me that,
there is no MBR(masterboot record). I went to BIOS and i see that BIOS does not see, my first drive(wich is the SSD). So i reconnected everything, tryed again, it did not work. Then I used the Windows 7 disk to recover the MBR. After 2 resets it was working again(I am using it right now). But is there something(programm) wich can tell me if my SSD is F**ked. It sonly 3months old.
Hmm, strange new development, i got an RMA from Samsung, but if its not really broken I have to pay some fees or something, so to make sure, i ran hdtune again, and this time i got completly normal results.
I'm thinking maybe its the fact that the first time when i thought it was failing, i was running windows off that same drive, i'm NOW running it off of an old hard drive.
What should I do?
