Is Runne of Magic another WoW clone or not?

Hey guys, I was debating with my classmate about Runnes of Magic (http://www.runesofmagic.com) is not the WoW (www.worldofwarcraft.com) clone. Runne of Magic may have some similarities to WoW, but it is expanding, more races, and more classes, and the classes are obviously not the same, the world is a little bit smaller, also there is a different story (That is all I can think of). but he say graphics, fonts, and interface character classes and abilities are very much like WoW… blah..blah...blah… I need some back up, help me so I can win....

TBH every MMO that comes out now a days is pretty much WoW. Or the developers try to take the good stuff from WoW and improve upon it, MMO's can't really vary that much.
You have to realize, WoW took bits and pieces from pretty much every other MMO that was around at the time. They just chose the right bits and pieces from the right games and perfected those ideas. I hate the term WoW clone because WoW is really a conglomerate of every previous MMO.

I completely agree.

The difference is they did it right. Nowadays they attempt to clone the "doing it right" part, and fail.
RoM isn't exactly a copy of WoW in every aspect, it's clear from the off that it draws heavily on it for 'inspiration'. I played a warrior on it during my brief stint, albeit it because I play a warrior on WoW and I like them, and the abilities are almost identical, including the use of Rage and the way it's generated to manage your actions.

I read into the dual class aspect of RoM with a bit of anticipation, I thought it was quite original and bold for a free MMO, but then I found out that it was identical to the dual class feature in Guildwars.

The UI, the graphics, the professions and the classes are pretty much a limited supply of those from World of Warcraft. It is, by and large, a shameless WoW Clone, with the exception of its story and races, but I don't hate it, I don't even mildly dislike it for ripping so many features and abilities from WoW. If anything, I like it. I like it a lot.

Runes of Magic has taken everything from World of Warcraft it can without facing legal action, but it's hasn't ruined it, it's made it's own story and it's made it fun. I'm not saying WoW isn't fun, but RoM certainly is too.
