Is there a specific Intel Core 2 6600 thats needed to be bought for Overclocking?<br><br>
like there's OEMs and different versions of the processor, as in like the core stepping i think or maybe the newish ones are bettre than the older ones?<br><br>
are OEMs good?<br><br>
i dont know really, but i was hoping someone here would help me about this.

at the moment the oem and retail versions show no difference in the overclocking <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile">

People talk about week 27, 28 or 29. To me it's all the same. Steppings? same thing, if a chip is going to overclock like mad, it will, if not? it won't.<br><br>
Same goes for RAM, I thought my DDR2 800s were going to overclock to at least 1000mhz, yet damn things weren't braking the 900mhz while other couple of fellas were getting 1000mhz. So I bought a different set of DDR2 800 memory and now I can hit 1000mhz with them.<br><br>
It's all luck I believe.

ya, some steppings or weeks are supposed to be better than others, but no way of telling when you buy.

Its all abotu luck, although I know people who'll RMA there cpu, and buy another one until they get what htey want.

Yep lol. I know people that RMAed like 5 Opterons for the right CCBBE stepping.
