I currently have a Pentium D 915 @ 2.8Ghz.
I am looking into a e7400. also a 2.8Ghz. Will the e7400 totally kill my 915 or will it be a moderate upgrade?

That would be a very nice upgrade.
I had both a Pentium D 805 and 945. After upgrading and overclocking my e6300, its made a noticeable difference in performance.
