Is this card overkill for my board?

Hey guys. I'm throwing together another budget build for a friend.

He wants to do some mid-range to high-end gaming for $400 bucks.

Anyway I was thinking of doing a Gigabyte G31 board, and E5200, and a this HD4830.

I know the board and chip are fine, but, will, he be able to get the full effect of the graphics card with that board?

The G31 board should handle the 4830 fine. 4803 is a 110w GPU so make sure the psu is able to handle them.

Thanks linskingdom. I 'm trying to get by with a rosewill 400watt PSU included in the case. I wonder if this will be enough power.

People with the least money always wants top notch equipment.

a 400w should be fine, just wondering if it's a quality one
Any quality 350watt and up should be able to handle a 4830. That'll be a great little budget gamer there

You need a psu that can do 260w on 12v . Check the side label of psu and you should see what wattage on 12v.
Rosewill makes really low quality PSUs with low amperage on the 12v rail and cheap capacitors. It might run, but I'd really recommend replacing it.
ha ha i have a 4870 in that board
Ya I'd pick up a 450w thermaltake. It has good reviews at the egg.
